আটক ব্যক্তিকে মনোরোগ বিশেষজ্ঞের মতামতের জন্য রেফার করা হয়েছিল যিনি তার মানসিক অবস্থার চিকিৎসার জন্য পরামর্শ দিয়েছিলেন। স্থানীয়দের সঙ্গে প্রশাসন সেখানে দেবীর নতুন ছবি ও পুজোর আয়োজন করেছে। এলাকায় শান্তি বজায় রাখতে পুলিশ ও স্থানীয় উভয়েই একে অপরকে সাহায্য করেছেন।
স্থানীয় লোকজন নিজেরাই বুঝতে পেরেছিলেন যে সে মানসিকভাবে ভারসাম্যহীন এবং তাকে তাঁরা মোটেও লাঞ্ছিত করেননি। তারপর তাঁরা তাকে পুলিশে হাতে তুলে দেন। স্থানীয়দের পক্ষ থেকেও কোনো অভিযোগ পাওয়া যায়নি।
বিনোদপুর গ্রাম পঞ্চায়েতের অন্তর্গত কৃষ্ণনগরে একটি দুর্ভাগ্যজনক ঘটনার বিষয়ে ভুল তথ্য ছড়ানো হচ্ছে। উল্লেখ্য যে, এক মানসিক ভারসাম্যহীন ব্যক্তি খাবারের খোঁজে মন্দিরে প্রবেশ করে প্রদীপ জ্বালানোর চেষ্টা করেন এবং দেবীর ছবিতে আগুন ধরে যায়। স্থানীয়রা উঠে তাকে ধরে ফেলেন।
