People ask me if I’m optimistic about India. The answer is: Yes because by 2024 the govt will change. Then we can draw on the talent pool & deep strength of the economy that’s damaged but there (I know the economy well enough to know). Then India can be back to rapid growth.

As a child of the sixties, I’ve seen every crisis, incl 3 full wars, food shortages, calamities. This is our biggest post-Partition crisis & never has India seen a Govt missing in action like this. No control rooms to call, nobody accountable to reach. It’s a governance rout.

Incredible India! With Chinese troops occupying our soil:- 1. Govt doesn’t feel obliged to explain what is happening. 2. The people don’t demand to know and instead delude themselves that Chinese will walk away on their own. 3. Media happy to publish scraps the govt throws it.

For Heavens sake...and for India's... abandon the web of lies and deception about "de-escalation". Note clash site: "Galwan Valley". That is territory that has been in India's possession since 1962. Time for the govt -- and bhakts and media toadies -- to stop lying to India.

Sorry to hear the official statement: "During the de-escalation process underway in the Galwan Valley, a violent face-off took place y'day night with casualties. The loss of lives on the Indian side includes an officer and two soldiers." Senior officers meeting at the clash site

As expected, leaks now placing Indian casualties at 20 soldiers. And quickly govt's spin machine is giving out a Chinese casualty count of 43. The cynical political calculation clearly is: If we can claim we killed 43 Chinese, killing of 20 Indian soldiers will matter far less
