We cannot credibly say that NY is a welcoming state for immigrants if our communities still fear family separation and detention after interactions with the police. @CarlHeastie & @AndreaSCousins, we must end police collusion with ICE! NY needs #NY4All.

There are at least several known instances in which ICE has discharged detainees who are on the edge of death. Let me tell you about one of them. Johana Medina Leon fled El Salvador and sought asylum here only to die in an El Paso hospital in 2019, four days after she was freed

That ICE is newly e-carcerating 1,000 people per day should be a huge story. People do not grasp the far-reaching consequences of massive expansion of e-carceration & surveillance of not only the person e-carcerated but indirect surveillance of those around them.

In addition to everything else, I really appreciate that Steven was able to draw attention cruelty of ankle monitors and for-profit surveillance companies like GEO Group. These companies have multi-million dollar contracts with ICE to monitor immigrants released from detention.
