This misconception is why people say things like “What if getting sent home is what the student wants? Why reward the behavior?” Because the purpose of sending students home for extreme behavior is to protect others and the learning environment.

Teacher training stats are down again for September….. Until training is free & teaching pays a competitive salary I can’t see things changing. Yes workload, behaviour, culture etc have a role but they don’t pay people’s bills.

The most stressed out I've ever been about Christmas was when I was 16 and I got my first ever job, working at M&S in Dundrum. As soon as I started I kept hearing these myths about the Christmas Eve Waste Sale, where all the food that wasn't sold on the 24th was marked down 90%.

The more I’m involved in school improvement at leadership level the more convinced I am that we have a national obsession in evidencing & it’s the enemy of progress in comprehensive education. School culture & excellent teaching don’t naturally produce evidence so leaders are…

I don’t see anything meaningful coming from a soundbite dressed up as a policy (twice announced) but at least it is encouraging to see cultural attitudes to maths, and the “it’s okay to be bad at maths” mindset challenged - so much mathematical anxiety is spread socially #HIGNFY

If Ofsted inspects a school that is forced to teach kids who turn up hungry, and has had its funding so viciously cut that it can barely afford a pack of pencils, that is NOT a failing school. That is a failing government.

If Tory MPs were so “bothered” about children they wouldn’t have decimated services such as CAMHs, smashed apart Sure Start, voted to not fund FSM during the pandemic, ignored expert advice on building back effectively after the pandemic. Doesn’t seem they are that “bothered”
