Fantastic 4 is good. But what it’s great at, it doesn’t do enough. For instance, could have used a longer Murrow/Kronkite speech that it was going for through its Helms Deep climax. The humor is one-off, not a lot of retort which builds character and depth of scene. But it’s fun!

Revisiting an old favorite, Children of Men, and one thing that sticks it out that didn’t before… is pacing. It’s fast in a way that didn’t seem fast 10+ years ago. It’s almost Sorkin-like, which was never the case upon previous viewings.

That new episode of Agatha, Death’s Hand in Mine. One of the best episodes of television I’ve ever seen. Ever. Best half hour of anything on TV in many years. File under other perfect non-linear examples like Firefly’s “Out of Gas” and LOST’s “The Constant.”

I spent a year in Franklin renovating a home & learning how to make bread at Bent Willow Baking. Wonderful town, not a better time to visit than next weekend for Pumpkin Fest too. Go get you some of the best sourdough in Carolina and watch the gourds roll down Palmer St.
