A special day today. The 100th anniversary of @StockportCounty forward Ernie Simms captaining the England side in the first ever association football international with Australia. Harry Hardy also played in goal. This is a great book that comprehensively records the whole tour.

Honoured to have been invited to ex @StockportCounty manager Colin Murphy's London book launch yesterday. Sally Mears written a great book covering his amazing career inc 3 stints at EP. Thanked him for saving us in 86/87 am not sure we would have survived non league at that time

Very sad to hear of the passing of Peter Robinson. He was a hugely important part of @LFC administration that grew the club to the global power they are today. Peter began his career as office junior at @StockportCounty in 1953 before becoming Assistant Secretary at Edgeley Park

Last night delighted to present C19 delayed player replica @StockportCounty George Haigh Young trophy 2019/20 to Festus Arthur. Presented at @barrowfc hotel before their game at Sutton. Festus still follows County and is a real credit to our Club. I wish him well in his career

An initial meeting of @NationalHways Stakeholder Advisory Forum was held on Friday. It's a step in the right direction and some positive moves emerged. But there was absolutely no contrition over Gt Musgrave bridge which they now claim could cost £431K to rehabilitate for reuse!!

Drawings for @NationalHways #BarcombeBridge infill scheme - which involves cutting down six mature trees - show it to be similar in design to #GreatMusgraveBridge, but bigger in scale because the structure was built for two tracks, not one. #EnvironmentalVandalism

The old railway beneath #BarcombeBridge is an ecologically sensitive habitat, with rare flora and fauna, nightingales, bats and ancient woodland. So what should @NationalHways do with the structure: encase it in 1,000t of aggregate and concrete, or carry out sympathetic repairs?

Just watched the @LFC website video tribute to Roger Hunt. At 2 mins 25 sec you see what appears to be the same flag in this picture taken onto the Wembley pitch. Commentary says "they're invading the pitch" Seems it got some practice at Edgeley Park!

Sad to read the death of World Cup hero Roger Hunt. He broke @StockportCounty hearts when scoring 2 goals at EP in Feb 1965 as @LFC progressed to their first FA Cup final success. Here he is (left) about to beat a hasty retreat having scored the 2nd goal at the Railway End.

We have written to @sdnpa, asking planners to confirm that they have consented to @HighwaysEngland infilling Stoke Road bridge, Itchen Stoke, under PD powers - as recently reported in #LiphookHerald - despite the structure being needed for @WatercressWay. @CycleWin @SouthDownsSoc

Well, this feels quite big. @DailyMailUK reports that @BorisJohnson @grantshapps will today announce that @HighwaysEngland bridge infilling programme is being paused, pending a proper review of the affected structures' value. We'll see what the day brings. dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9…

Stoke Rd bridge is earmarked for reuse as part of #TheWatercressWay. @HighwaysEngland has not assessed its capacity, but claims it is in "a distressed condition". @sdnpa told them infilling requires "the submission of a planning application", but they're progressing under PD.
