@Shawngee123 If you can’t control obsession, at least prepare your mind to manage unmet expectations. The very agency of human life means that we don’t get to dictate how others can make us feel, not every time at least
Obsession is a talent itself. Not everyone can be intense. If you are intense, then I have just one advice for you: redirect that energy away from people and focus it on a skill, an interest, a business. People are not projects you can own.

For every rich person you meet, there’s always a good habit of success he keeps and maintains.
For every poor person you meet, there's always some bad habits you can point out that keeps the fellow poor.
@sirepollo A wealthy businessman may not have been born poor. But may have had several difficult moments where he had to learn to be resilient. Resilience is not a follow-come feature of wealth. It is learned and it’s something everyone can have in common, rich or poor. He may have applied…
You want the best people to get the best of you because you protected yourself and prepared for them, not the best people to get the worst of you because you let shittier people mess you up first. You should take your self-protection very seriously. I cannot state this enough.
Fully engaged, completely detached. Suffering comes from attachment to outcomes. If you give it up, you can still work intensely while maintaining your peace. It’s very easy to believe you have to sacrifice peace for your ambition. But how are you any extraordinary doing that?
What’s lost may not even be recoverable, not because of sacrifice, but because time and experience change the internal landscape of the self. In the same way you sometimes wonder where the 16-year-old you went.
I like small talk. A lot. I love to banter even more. I love jokes, witty remarks and playful repartees. In fact, people who talk to me regularly know how playful & facetious I am. But the thing is, I like small talk with people who already have some sharpness to their edges.
The problem with making art is that art is a reflection of yourself. Art is the essence of who you are. And sometimes when you outgrow a phase, your artistic representation of it, fills you with shame. You want to destroy it. Because now it’s saying you’re not good enough.
Life operates within a mix of natural laws, randomness, and human choices. There is something both lucid and absurd in how we face these three forces. The natural laws are our prison walls - clear, immutable, indifferent to our protests. They are the gravity that pulls us toward…
Hey, you’ve got the impostor syndrome. You want to know what I think? I think you feel like an impostor because in some sense you are an impostor. But I’ve got these to tell you.
When you make a shift upwards into a new status, you feel like an impostor because in some sense, you’re beginner who is immediately forced to act like you’re already there when you’re just barely started. That’s what growth feels like.
Until you succeed, your failures would appear permanent. Because society does not care. But human memory is short. One big win and the past is forgotten. In fact, the very things that made you appear a failure, would begin to appear inspiring.
Jesus knew that his disciples loved him. This battle just wasn’t what they could understand; they could afford to sleep. He couldn’t make them understand, so he prayed alone, and with all his might. He didn’t dwell on the disappointment. Even for Jesus, life became personal.
To do great things, you have to expect it of yourself to do such things. But you can’t expect great things of yourself if you can’t imagine them to be possible. You can’t imagine what is possible, if you don’t know what exists, whether as information or potential. And sometimes,…
You’re too soon old and too late smart. The Germans were right with it. Cherish those who make stretch you to get smarter, give you vital advice or information that improves your life. They have given you a lease at life. And that’s more than you could possibly deserve.
I deliberately used the term “greatness” and not “success.” Success is a loose term. If I’m richer than you are in business or based off a similar career path, I’m probably more successful than you are by social standards. One could even argue that children born into wealth are…
