Spot on @mikejoy500 regarding b2b sponsored (you were on with harvick) a friend of mine and I have discussed this. Back in the day. Fans were hooked to the driver and either the sponsor or manufacture. That’s gone. We can’t even support the sport as consumers. Total disconnect

@mikejoy500 @darmerderner Mike makes a good point about Kansas though. When it was built it saw all sorts of shops grow up near it. Sporting KC built their stadium there. A casino is there. Buc-ee's is about to build there. That whole area started with the track being there first.

@darmerderner @PoolecustomHome @mikejoy500 It was a landfill and the city/county, somebody uses the parking lot to park school busses. But that’s the point. It can’t be used for much else. I suppose because the smell eventually got gone, they think they can sell it now? It’s the only QM track within 4 hours of Alabama.

@darmerderner @mikejoy500 The issue here is this is an existing facility on a piece of property that has no other commercial value. It’s between a city works facility and a landfill. So why terminate the lease?

In Florida it's called a "borrow pit", where dirt is dug to build overpasses (or banking). The high water table fills any such excavation. Sax Lloyd was the local Buick dealer and a good friend of Big Bill France, who named the "lake" for him.

Former Charlotte Motor Speedway track president Humpy Wheeler died last night. He was 86. He spearheaded putting lights up at Charlotte (no big tracks had lights at the time). Also instrumental in Janet Guthrie competing in World 600. RIP.
