A small indignity of walking in a car-oriented city: having to wait to cross the street until the driver in the right-turn lane makes eye contact with you to signal they (probably) won't run you over.
@mirijulip In non-car oriented cities, do you trust your life to drivers?
@mirijulip Must be nice to be able to walk on the sidewalk. In many progressive cities they are covered with homeless tents so it's safer for pedestrians to walk on the street
@mirijulip The eye contact thing actually increases the chance of them driving over you. They think that once you've noticed them, you'll stay the fuck out of their very important way.
@mirijulip Apparently the fairy unicorns were not available that day to take people to work so they can support their families.🤷🤦🤡
