Went to buy cereal, & a nice woman pointed out a sale where I could get 3 boxes for the price of my 1. She told me she was buying extra for the food bank. I thanked her profusely. Not just for the money saved, but for the reminder that humans can truly look out for one another.

With a 5:30 am, 6:20 am, and 7 am wake-ups. All kids got out of the door amazingly. As I sat down to write in silence for the first time in months, I realized I forgot to take any pictures. I never post them. I just like to have them. Guess we'll do a first day after school photo

There’s something about drift wood that speaks to my soul. How beautiful to feel the push and pull of life and then rest on a beach to hear the waves. To let weary travelers take a seat on my bare bones so we can contemplate our journeys together.

This weekend always feels like saying goodbye to summer. As a writer who works from home with her kids all summer, it's bittersweet. Am I looking forward to silence and better concentration? Yes. But I will miss the excuse to put off a deadline for swimming or ice cream.

Ugh it happened. Someone asked me what my new book was about and words came out of my mouth. I ended it with I’m still working on my pitch like the awkward author I am. So yeah, time for me to work on a pitch I can verbalize easily or not talk to humans again. Not sure which.

I don't know who needs this message. But enthusiasm really does go a long way in the creative field. If you like someone's work, tell them. It's amazing how just two simple words like "Love it!" can keep a writer (who may be me) motivated.

My rib cage and my leg hurts. And it’s the best feeling cause I woke up to one cat sleeping on my ribs and the other on my leg. I wasn’t going to move and wake that furry pile of love and trust. Cat sleepovers are the best. Even if they are a bit achy.

I tried to play it cool. But the writer in me is incapable of looking at back-to-school supplies without getting giddy. Fresh crayons. Sharpened pencils with full erasers. New notebooks. Sorry, kids, Mom's just going to need a minute to get herself together.
