Mr Crude, what is a DFL and should I care its $1.84 ? Well Timmy, a DFL is an acronym for Dated vs Front Line Brent. Its a measure of a cargo with an upcoming specific delivery date against the most current Brent futures . That price suggests a very tight crude oil market .

On the day when California's higher tax and fees kick in, the wholesale price for LA CARBOB is $2.24 a gallon (the price refiners sell to the market). Add 0.68 cents for distribution and everything else to sum to the pump price is tax and fees.
