Every city in America should be building a citywide network grade-separated multimodal lanes like this.
Every city in America should be building a citywide network grade-separated multimodal lanes like this.
@mnolangray I think this is the same street two years ago (Guessing from the soccer field?)
@mnolangray Is this what the Edgewood Avenue cycletrack will look like when the improvements are completed? @awebr @mjpisci @doughausladen @MayorElicker @StasiaBrew @AmusedToDeath1 @NewHavenEng
@mnolangray It's no Copenhagen but Minneapolis' bike infrastructure is legit nice. Insane that such a snowy city has built this.
@mnolangray Absolutely not. Cities can handle a HANDFUL OF BIKERS per mile. That’s it. Once there are more bikes, e-bikes, mopeds, etc on the road it turns into chaos. More bikers = more lawlessness as NO BIKERS FOLLOW TRAFFIC LAWS. No country in the world has figured this out.
@mnolangray Every city should also be looking at using low traffic residential streets as the core of a bike grid. My city of 75k has about 80 miles of streets that are <25 mph with very little vehicular traffic. Testing laneblocks.com to protect painted bike lanes and calm traffic.
@mnolangray pick up a shovel and get to work then.
@mnolangray We should be build less bike lanes that’s for sure
@mnolangray Many cities lack the mild climate and flat terrain needed to be viable biking cities.
@mnolangray Bicyclists still riding in the middle of the car lanes I bet
@mnolangray They actually suck for riding fast. At grade hard protected with bollards or jersey barriers single lane with traffic are far better. There are always times when commuting or on workout rides that one needs to turn and interact with traffic. Just slow down the cars.
@mnolangray And then people can have dining rooms again
@mnolangray No thanks. This is so stupid. But you can use all of your money to build them in your city.
@mnolangray May you too live to be an octogenarian and wish you could still ride a bicycle.
@mnolangray ... in #GER that would not work. Bikelanes, which aren't protected by bollards will allways be misused by relentless #Autlers.
@mnolangray Agreed. Too many cars everywhere. Cars make people uncomfortable around other people in real life.
@mnolangray It doesn't matter. There will still be dipsticks biking in the middle of traffic.
@mnolangray You should look at Tucson, this doesn’t even compare…Huckleberry trail
@mnolangray Where should a person park a moving van on a street like this? Honest question, as I am about to be moving out of a home on a street that looks just like this. I’ve reached out to city officials but, unsurprisingly, have not received a response…
@mnolangray Honestly most are - even the really carbrained towns like Miami. theunderline.org
@mnolangray This is valueless 5 months outta the year
@mnolangray Yeah well, all our money goes to other countries so we can't really afford nice things like this
@mnolangray Similar went up in my neighborhood (near Portland, OR) and I've adjusted my running routes to take fullest advantage. It's fantastic.
@mnolangray Every city… Rural towns and civic centers too. A real boost in a people’s mobility and livability.
@mnolangray This is a city that's -15f half the year too!
@mnolangray I visited Minneapolis once and was pleasantly surprised at how well pedestrians, bikers and autos coexist, creating much less car traffic
@mnolangray And have cyclists pay a toll to pay for it
