Yesterday, my 7th grade neighbor sent me an SOS text asking for help with his math assignment. I got my whiteboard and markers and we met outside. Truth: that face to face teaching gave me some life. I miss that.

This tweet and comments brought out all the feels for me. My heart breaks for kids, especially those who can’t find the words to explain their feelings. My teaching is certainly not earth shattering right now but I hope it’s providing some form of connection for my Ss.

This thread summarizes my thoughts after the first day of digital learning yesterday. I am hopeful that it will get better but so far, I hate it. It actually made me feel more alone and unsatisfied than the weeks of not teaching at all. I miss the kids in the room.
