For the Archbishop of Canterbury to honour on the 25th anniversary of 9/11, a cleric who praised Bin Laden is a significant lapse. I’m pleased that Conservative shadow cabinet members @NJ_Timothy @Rebecca_SPaul discovered some of this information and called this out publicly, forcing the church to change its position. Yes, the church might have been ignorant of some facts, but the presence of a woman with a full face veil, covered head to toe, in an outfit widely known as a visible symbol of female oppression should have given pause for thought. Our Culture and Integration Commission was set up to end this sort of naive belief that all cultures are equal. No other party in British politics is doing this work to protect our culture.

Died for standing against Sharia. Mahmoud Mohammed Taha was a Sudanese Muslim thinker who watched Sharia being imposed on his country, and refused to accept it. His argument was radical: Islam has two messages. Mecca: peace, coexistence, freedom of belief, a message for every age. Medina: Sharia, jihad, hudud, a legal order suited to the seventh century, not the twentieth. He rejected coercive jihad. He rejected forced faith. He rejected apostasy laws, amputation, and traditional Islamic criminal punishments. He built a group called “the Republican Brothers” around this vision. Sudan did not debate him and defeat his argument. It hanged him. January 18, 1985. He had been convicted of apostasy after publicly opposing the government’s implementation of Sharia. The brutal irony is impossible to miss: Taha challenged sharia and was killed under sharia rule. He stood against Sharia and paid with his life. Stand against sharia while you still have the freedom to do it.

I attended a medical conference this week. Next to me in the coffee line was a woman wearing a hijab. She introduced herself as an international surgical fellow at a major medical school (a big deal). I asked which country she’s from. She proudly said “Israel!” She’s lived in Israel her entire life, as a practicing devout Muslim woman. Was educated there. Became a physician, then a surgeon, and made it to the US for a prestigious 2 year fellowship. And she’s absolutely proud to be Israeli. She told me how surprised she is when some people react negatively to her being from Israel because she and her family are treated with respect and given every opportunity. Sounds like Israel isn’t so great at the apartheid and genocide thing. 🇮🇱
