Every night since Akol’s death - young people have been gathering at the Britannia Woods Community House to mourn. They share memories of Manny, cry and laugh. In the corner of the room a memorial has been set up. There’s a photo of young Manny from more than a decade ago.

Jean-Jacques Ngandu is one of the people who has been @BritanniaWoods community house every night since Manny died. He’s a professional photographer and podcaster. He’s been creating a video tribute to be played at a community vigil he is helping to organize.

There are no surveillance cameras inside the airbnb at 490 Gilmour St where Akol and friends were staying. They were staying in the back unit which has its own separate entrance. Police did find bloody handprints on a car parked a few houses down

Along with Akol- a 19yo, 20 yo were shot while sleeping but survived. They’re still in hospital but they are also from the Ritchie area. The 15yo has been released from CHEO. CBC sources tell us there was a fifth person staying at the airbnb who escaped without injury.

I spoke to a man who lives at 490 Gilmour. He’s in a unit that is not rented out on Airbnb. He woke up to police kicking in doors with guns pointed last Wednesday cbc.ca/news/canada/ot…
