From fishing for strong introductions in writing 🎣 to sharing different types of connections in reading, 🔗 these kiddos are developing essential literacy skills through active learning experiences, and their enthusiasm to learn new things makes me so proud.
Today in writing, students explored different types of writing in a gallery walk activity, identifying types, sharing likes, dislikes, and purposes. In social studies, we learned about citizenship. Students voted for a whole group reward, showing awesome classroom citizenship!
Students learned the difference between "real" and “fake" reading by acting out independent reading scenarios for the class. They were super into their roles and put on some amazing performances! Afterwards, they totally rocked their first independent reading session! 🤩📚
First “Meet the Teacher” in the books! Can't wait for my classroom to be filled with bright smiles and eager minds! I can already tell it’s going to be a great year. 💖✏️

2nd grade PLC is looking at an upcoming Unit to calibrate and create an IER progression! Teacher alignment ✔️teacher clarity ✔️ Making a large anchor chart version so students can self/peer assess within our classrooms.

100th day of School was fun!
I told our students to leave their shoes in the hallway for an impromptu “Stinky Feet Day.” Little did they know, we were going to be learning about Christmas in the Netherlands, and they would soon find a surprise in them after our lesson! 🤭🎄
Students became detectives and searched for clues within their stories to solve a “conflict mystery.” In groups, they worked to prove their case using text evidence! 🕵️📚
