When I was in fifth grade, I signed a Christmas card to my teacher and wrote, “Keep this autograph because I’m going to be a famous author someday.” Today, she reached out to me to tell me she started reading my debut novel and couldn’t believe I named a character after her.
If you’re interested, Goodreads is giving away 100 ebook copies of the book—the giveaway runs through July 15. Link to enter is in my bio. Maybe you’ll like the story as much as Mrs. Martillotti! ❤️
@msteelewrites I have a short story one of my 3rd graders wrote and gave me a copy. She just graduated from high school. She’s going places and I knew it back then.

@msteelewrites This is a full circle ⭕️ moment!
@msteelewrites I'm with a high school friend now, 50 years later. We were just talking about our high school counselor who told the both of us that we were not university material. We ended up going at around age 35. Guess what, we aced it.
@msteelewrites Okay I’m emotional now 😭
@msteelewrites Love this! That’s the effect I want to have on my students!
@msteelewrites 👏remembering the people that influence the outcomes of our lives matters.
@msteelewrites This is a beautiful testament to the difference teachers make in people's lives. I'll definitely be ordering your book as a gift for some children in my family!
