Just a reminder that today is the day you need to go into the school to pick up your child’s belongings if you haven’t done so already. Pick up times are between 8:30-11:30 or 12:00-3:00. Please remember to double check that you have your child’s shoes before leaving.

We continued working on telling time and identifying bench marks, such as what time we wake up, eat breakfast, go to school, etc.. Although we are finished with time, please continue to work on time concepts at home with your child.

After reading ‘One Smile’ we made connections to the story. We were able to come up with at least one connection to the story!

One simple little smile, sometimes given without any thought at all, can start a ripple of happiness that will go on forever. We discussed how small acts of kindness, can have lasting effects on someone’s day or life. We talked about what we can each do on the playground.

We finished writing our story and drawing our illustrations and reinforcing our houses today. We even tested our structures to see if they were stable. Turns out that the house built out of plastic surveyed the test!

We then decided that we would like to rebuild structures similar to those in the story, but only with recycled materials. Great to see everyone working together to build a sturdy structure. It will be interesting to see what structures we finish with tomorrow!

In language, we read ‘The Three Little Pigs’ and started rewriting the story from our point of view. Some of us wrote the story while others drew the story. It took us a little time to get going, but once we started sharing ideas, our creative juices came together!

In math, we continued our work on telling time. We read ‘How long is a day? And ‘Hours’ yesterday. Today we read ‘Just a Minute’ to help us understand how long a minute is. We then worked on telling time by ourselves.
