In the remote working world, there are two types of companies: Remote First & Remote Forced Here’s what that means (and why you should care):
Before checking the "Remote" filter on a job board would cut the list down by half. Today most roles are remote friendly. But remote doesn't mean the same thing at every company. Understand the difference between companies that are Remote First & those that are Remote Forced.
@nathanbarry Love the idea of "remote first" and "remote forced" here. Really useful framework.
@nathanbarry Well said, Nathan. Sharing how the team works and communicates with potential candidates helps everyone understand what they’re signing up for.
@nathanbarry We also have a third option: hybrid companies. Where we flex for any work preference. What do you think about how to make that work? Is it possible?
@nathanbarry How about this? Walk into your next all hands and ask them what they want to do and accommodate that. Peeps that want to work from home can and smaller shared space can be provided for team meetings...
@nathanbarry Your company is not remote if it has an office and people work from that office. It doesn't matter who and how many work remotely.
@nathanbarry Excellent piece here, Nathan. Any tips to stand out in finding a great fit for a remote-first company?
@nathanbarry Great explanation. I always tell people to look for a remote-first company if they’ve had a poor “remote/hybrid” experience. It’s a world of difference. If you want to work remote: Chose a place that trusts you to get your best work done regardless of location or time.
@nathanbarry When do medical office jobs become remote? Asking for a friend.
@nathanbarry Remote jobs or WFH are the gateway to jobs being outsourced to foreign countries.
