When you #homeschool, kids don’t have to be put in a box marked “grade level.” They can advance quickly through the subjects they’re strong in, and take time in the weak subjects. They don’t “fail” a grade. They read books without “reading levels.” They can be individuals.
@nickitruesdell1 What you put is very true but the homeschool people I know lack standard modern social skills even as adults. The only parallel is that they have figured out to only communicate with people who serve them. Other than that they cannot carry on conversation with a stranger.
@nickitruesdell1 I love all your posts! Makes me so happy that I made the decision to homeschool my children 2 years ago.
@nickitruesdell1 It’s a fantastic way to avoid them learning science or history too.
@nickitruesdell1 I knew a 6th grader who was removed from government schools for not reading well or writing or getting reading comprehension very well. The mom spent a lot of time on tons of short stories reading, answering questions, paragraph writing. Oh and math too. Kid is a champ now.
@nickitruesdell1 Schools do stop children in their advancement and that is so wrong. In high school I wanted to take 2 sciences and was told I could only take one at a time. In place I took a worthless course that I ignored.
@nickitruesdell1 My kids asked me what subjects they were "honors" in. They had spoken to their cousin who attends public school. I said, everything. They are also taking classes you cannot get in public school. They were like, "oh".
