Organizing in Louisiana to fight Carbon Capture, Hydrogen, and False Solutions to Climate Change & Protect Human Rights & towards a just transition in Louisianafacebook.com/profile.php?id… LouisianaJoined February 2023
Hosted by Senator Bill Wheat, as well as Representatives Nicholas Muscarello, Shane Mack, & Kim Coates, the meeting aims to inform the public about Air Products’ permit application, which includes construction of an ammonia and hydrogen facility, pipelines, & CO₂ injection wells
A town hall meeting was held last night, Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at the Lions Club in Ponchatoula (750 E Pine Street) to discuss the proposed carbon capture project beneath Lake Maurepas and its potential environmental impact.
2024 was the hottest year in history. What did @Citigroup do about it? They INCREASED their fossil fuel financing by 50% from 2023, handing over $44.7 BILLION to the #1 industry pushing our climate over the edge. Learn more: bankingonclimatechaos.org#DefundClimateChaos#BOCC
Our climate can’t afford a single new fossil fuel project – yet big banks spent over $429 BILLION on fossil fuel expansion in 2024. These banks are consumed by their greed at the expense of us all. We demand they #DefundClimateChaos NOW. bankingonclimatechaos.org#BOCC
📷 Oppose:
HB600 & HB692: Big giveaways to oil & gas under the guise of “green” energy
HB99 & SB94: Radical changes to agency authority and wetland protections
SB59: Legislative overreach on rulemaking
📷 Support:
HB495: Shortens severance tax breaks on new gas wells
HB535: Requires legislative auditor review of tax incentives
HB601: Blocks foreign entities from using eminent domain for CO2 pipelines
HR240: Creates task force to evaluate carbon sequestration modeling
📷 No More Committee Hearings
All remaining action is happening on the House and Senate floors. Starting tonight at 6PM, bills must get a 2/3rds majority to pass. Expect a rush of votes and floor fights—especially if appropriations debates stretch out.
Here’s what you need to know heading into the final stretch:
📷 Session Extension?
A recent constitutional amendment now allows the legislature to extend session by up to 6 days (48 hours at a time, max 3x) only to finish appropriations bills—but that requires a 2/3rds vote.
📷 The 2025 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature is almost over! 📷
The session is scheduled to adjourn sine die by 6PM on Thursday, June 12, unless extended (📷 more on that below). Huge thanks to everyone who organized, testified, tracked bills, made calls &#heldtheline
