(early)unpopular opinion: Microsoft Edit will replace Nano in some Linux distros as the "non-VIM based" editor. Open sourced, Rust, TUI with mouse support and few but important settings (line ending, format, tab spaces). The call me fanboy, the future is here Corsair 🏴‍☠️
