Update: Facebook is considering limiting political ad targeting options, better labelling, other ideas, per spokesperson. Nothing is off the table. Hard to imagine FB's political ad offering stays the same ahead of 2020.

On this day in 1979: Defence computers indicated that the USA was under a nuclear attack, because a “war game” tape had been loaded as part of a test. The tape simulated a Russian nuclear missile attack, and thus initiated a sequence of events. Ten U.S. jets were scrambled.

I keep seeing infosec "thought leaders" recommending to roll your own VPN in response to the news about NordVPN. Don't listen to these people. They aren't real thought leaders. Real thought leaders would be recommending you roll your own ISP.

Cybersecurity awareness month is the time of year when infosec shouts advice at each other (instead of educating users), shames people using password manager browser plugins, claims the risk of using antivirus is worse than not having it at all, and rails against SMS MFA.
