Just booked an @Uber ride for one of my employees and the driver asked me if I could tell him how much I paid for the ride. I politely declined but reviewed the receipt afterwards because he seemed concerned about the amount he was receiving. After reviewing, I'm curious about this "booking fee" that Uber charged. Total charged was $78.66 and if I'm reading this right, the "ride" was $38.96 and the "fee to book" the ride was $38.05(!). Keep in mind this was a 1 hour ride so it wasn't not short at all. I've heard @dkhos proudly claim that most of the ride fare goes to the driver so something seems really off here. Can someone help explain this? If this is the new norm for Uber, it's a total checkmate with @Tesla & @Waymo coming in.
