The Giant Panda helps humans by providing the resource of bamboo. Although they do not prey off other animals, they are food to predators within their area such as jackels and snow leopards. Without them, there is one less food source for other important members of the ecosystem.

Giant Pandas will mate during the spring season. Female pandas will find large, hollow trees and use them as maternity dens. When panda cubs are born, they weigh about four ounces and by gaining approximately five pounds every month, they will mature between four to ten years

Giant Pandas tend to have short ears and snout, and a small tail. Their heads are rather broad and their claws are long. These pandas can be up to six feet in length and weight approximately 300 pounds.

By protecting the habitat of the Giant Panda, the economy of the Yangtze Basin will continue to thrive. Not only will the growth of bamboo be available to use as a natural resource, but the beauty of the area will support ecotourism.

The home of the Giant Panda must be protected as much as possible to provide them a safe living space to grow and reproduce. This can be done by limiting the amount of forest that is taken up by humans for land and for resources.

To save the Giant Panda, great measures must be taken along with good funding. Approximately 60 to 70 panda reserves have been made, with each reservation in communication with one another to maintain productivity.

Without Giant Pandas, there will be a decrease in population of the animals that feed off of it. A chain reaction would result, and in the long run, create an imbalance in the ecosystem. This would result in an increase in some animal populations and a decrease in so many more.

Part of the reason that pandas are having difficulty reproducing in the wild is because, despite mating season, pandas are not very social with one another, and sometimes rather hostile. This slows down the rate of reproduction in the wild.

Scientists are breeding pandas in captivity in hopes that by keeping newborns in a safe environment, the population will succeed in increasing! This method works, but is rather slow.

Pandas have the anatomical build to be carnivores, yet they still only eat bamboo. This is why they have to eat 35 pounds of it to get enough nutrients! Without their home, they won't have any food to eat.

One of the biggest threats of the Giant Panda is hunters trying to poach them for their fur. Although there was a ban on hunting these creatures in 1962, hunters still found a way to poach them.

Did you know that pandas need to eat 35 pounds of bamboo per day to get enough nutrients? They won't be able to eat enough food if humans keep taking away their habitat! :(

The home of the Giant Pandas is in the bamboo forests of the Yangtze Basin in China. The deconstruction of the forests is due to railroad construction polluting the water, soil, and vegetation.

The colors of the Giant Panda serves as camouflage which help the animals blend into the lights and shadows in their environment! Their black and white fur is dense and filled with oil to keep warm and protect against water.

The Giant Panda has been endangered since 1990. Things have gotten better, yet the future is not certain for these beautiful creatures.
