The drop in retention and strategies to boost retention can apply to students' academic AND social- emotional- behavioral skills. Good teaching practices apply to both types of skills.

When Tier 1 is weak, lots of students look like they need intervention. When Tier 2 is weak, lots of students look like they need Tier 3 or special education. Strong investments in Tier 1 & Tier 2 is a critical starting place for prevention. Access gaps = outcome gaps.

I enjoyed the opportunity today to present to a great group of @DuPageROE educators on using data to improve school attendance. Analyzing attendance data through an #mtss lens can be very helpful in selecting appropriate interventions.
