My pharmacy is bleeding money, and the culprit is crystal clear: PBMs. Their reimbursement rates are unsustainable, making it nearly impossible for us to keep our doors open. Patients suffer, small businesses suffer, and it's time for action. #PBMsBankruptingPharmacies
OptumRx prescription reimbursements are some of the worst I’ve seen. If Mr. Witty agrees that smaller pharmacies aren’t being paid at least even their costs, they would have changed the model a long time ago. This was nothing but lip service. Witty doesn’t give two shits.

So when we see insurance claims get diverted to a discount card upon adjudication, what’s stopping us from telling the patient that your insurance “doesn’t cover this” and charge them a fair cash price? Because technically the insurance isn’t covering it, the discount card is.

Due to reduced reimbursement by pbms, the average pharmacy has lost 30% of gross margin in the transition from 2023 to 2024 serving the same patients. Pharmacies can't cut that much expense to see their way to break even. Meanwhile pbm profits are skyrocketing. See the problem

Now United Healthcare's Optumrx has their own rx savings card. I guess they are competing with good rx. They want to gain greater market share anyway they can, while denying more claims on regular insurance

PBMs increased their lobbying spending by 78% in 2023 to the tune of $15.44 Million. Talk about stacking the deck knowing they'd be screwing independents in 2024. What a mafia operation pbms have turned out to be.
