Most of the GHG free technologies that will meet demand when solar is not available are still expensive and need time for market transformation. Overbuilding solar today helps reduce emissions now and keeps the us on track to meet long term goals while other technologies develop.

A reminder that net metering is a tariff and not a religion. The “debate” on this issue has gotten totally out of control in CA and groups like @solar_rights need a fundamental rework of their approach. Sorry you got this ridiculous voicemail, @BorensteinS.

California did curtail some solar during the heatwave and in the long term we need to shift demand and supply to other times of the day (and year). What this article doesn’t discuss is how curtailing some solar is a very cost effective way to get to a GHG free grid.

There were a few, but increasingly lower head counts and shorter duration. As was the experience with SDG&E several years ago.

I worked with Marty starting in 1976 when I was chapter President in Sacramento of Local 909 of AFSCME. He was always kinder to me than I deserved, and took the time to hear me out and then gently set me straight. RIP, Marty.
