For nearly 25 years, I put off writing the story that eventually became my first novel. I’d had this rudimentary idea that I kept trying to make work as a contemporary adventure story set in the “real” world, but there was this one image that persisted in my mind, which simply wouldn’t fit. It didn’t necessarily entail a fantasy setting, but it did require me to consider writing a period piece, and I suppose for me, that was almost like writing another world. So, the thought of it also being a fantasy was always close at hand. About 5 years ago I just decided I wasn’t going to ignore it anymore.

@plainrunner2 Ngl, it took me a bit to fully understand what I was reading and get the setting. But once I did, hoo boy
@plainrunner2 Well it certainly worked, brilliantly. I'm hoping there's more to come in that world.
