Can somebody steelman STM32s and atmega328ps to me in 2025? $1 now buys you an RP2040, a dual core 200MHz behemoth with ~250 KiB of SRAM. On the lower end, $0.14 buys (in bulk) a tiny CH32V003 32-bit 2KiB SRAM 16KiB flash 5V-tolerant MCU. ESP32s and nRF parts also seem better.

Correction: There are multiple OEM vendors for ATMs deployed by a bank. They use different vendors to prevent monopoly and central point of failure. One of the OEMs use Debian. This means almost all banks in India have Debian based ATMs in some places.
