Alright metal heads, here's one from 2005: The Black Halo by Kamelot. They put it all together in this album. Powerful and symphonic with Roy Kahn's theatrical vocals on full display. Lots of riffs and many layers to this one. Definitely a prog metal classic! #progrock

Here is a modern classic in every sense. Germany's Sylvan released Posthumous Silence in 2006. Amazing album structure and flow along with very emotional vocals. It's not a stretch to say this was a top album of that decade (almost 20 years ago already?!) Outstanding! #progrock

Seventh House by IQ might be my top IQ album ever. Released in 2000 this one has every prog fan's wishes. Beautifully crafted neo prog highlighted by the title track. Fabulous arrangements and transitions throughout. This album needs a refresher soon! #progrock

Haken reached a pinnacle in 2013 with The Mountain. Tremendous album with varied sections and such a cohesive output from start to finish. The sum is greater than its parts and needs to be revisited 10+ years later. Highly recommended for all rock fans! #progrock #progmetal

The Flower Kings just released a new one, so we are taking it back to their 2000 album Space Revolver. All the TFK elements are there - jazzy and complex with good structure. Highlights are the bookends: I Am the Sun Pt 1 & 2. It's not perfect, but it's a winner. #progrock

Riverside released Identity ID in 2023. A very consistent and straightforward rocker that most would enjoy. Tons of fantastic bass and keyboard sections will keep fans happy. Bonus song "Age of Anger" is a great instrumental in the vein of Rush and a favorite. #progrock

Dream Theater released Six Degrees in 2002 and ranks very high in catalogue. Double album with 2nd side as one suite. Best songs: Glass Prison, Great Debate, War Inside Head, Test that Stumped, Goodnight Kiss. In 2025 still a tremendous album! #progrock #progmetal #dreamtheater

Everon released first album in 17 years titled Shells. After several listens this one hits the spot that has been vacated all these years. This album was a very welcome surprise and much like previous outputs, should continue to get better each spin. Welcome back! #progrock

2023 release by Hackberry titled Breathing Space is under the radar, but shouldn't be. Great instrumental album in 4 tracks. Heavy prog with great variations and never gets dull. Highly recommended for prog heads and alike. #progrock

Steven Wilson new album The Overview is worth the effort. It may take 25+ spins to fully digest, but this keeps getting better. Two long tracks with a spacey, Floydian vibe is fantastic if in the proper mindset. Truly progressive in every sense and high praise! #progrock

New Neal Morse release Cosmic Cathedral titled Deep Water. This time Neal teams up with veterans including Phil Keaggy. Neal's footprint is all over this one. However, it's a more jazzy, laid back release. The title track suite is the focus and comes through! Bravo #progrock

What else can be said about Steven Wilson - Hand Cannot Erase from 2015? Absolute masterpiece of modern prog. I feel bad for those who have not heard "Routine-Home Invasion-Regret #9" in succession. #progrock #progmetal

If you're looking for something newer and high quality, Time Project by Barock Project fits the bill from 2024. From Italy, this is a superb album with hints of Kansas, Yes and Queen. But they make it their own style and works very well. #progrock #progmetal

One of the best prog rock albums of the 90's is Masquerade Overture by Pendragon. Nick Barrett, Clive Nolan and company released it in 1996 and is hailed as a neo prog classic. Along the lines of Marillion and IQ, this album is pure top level musicianship. #progrock #progmetal

From Tunisia, here is a polished metal album from last year in 2024. Myrath released Karma to great reviews. Solid melodic vocals and hooks, this album should satisfy most prog metal fans. Production value is incredibly high and is a very enjoyable listen. #progrock #progmetal

An all time classic from 1978. Rush released Hemispheres and still stands the test of time today. Highlighted by Cygnus X-1 Book II, The Trees, and the absolute banger instrumental La Villa Strangiato. An essential album in progressive rock history. #progrock #rush #progmetal

Emerald City Council released debut album Motion Carries in 2024. If you like Kansas style rock this is for you. Jake Livgren's new band hit a home run on its first try. Centerpiece track is a 20 minute epic Platforms of Ilusion and delivers. Impressive start! #progrock

Opeth released Last Will and Testament earlier in 2025. It's a return extreme tone and vocals, but also keeping the prog elements we have come to enjoy. I could listen to this 50x and continue to hear new sections. This one will keep getting better. #progrock #progmetal #opeth

This year had brought some great albums already. Don't miss Pattern Seeking Animals new one - Friends of all Creatures. Lots of twists and turns with incredible subtlety. Great vocal sections and melody to boot. Highly recommended #progrock #progmetal
