@queenie4rmnola Both of my grandfathers were in WW2 One was a POW captured in the Battle of the Bulge and marched to Germany to a POW camp where he spent 10 months. And then had to go back to Georgia. Got 3 Purple Hearts but couldn’t use GI benefits to buy a house.

@queenie4rmnola What party was in power after WW2 and denied benefits to black combat vets. It was the same one that went to war to protect slavery, established the Klan and Jim Crow laws. It was the same party that voted against the Civil Rights act.

@queenie4rmnola You can thank Democrats and President Woodrow Wilson for that. Republicans under President Grant defeated the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) in the 1870s. Democrats under President Wilson revived the KKK, segregated the federal government and implemented the Jim Crow Laws.

@queenie4rmnola Black Americans were used as body shields during times of war. They’d be sent out to the frontlines first to absorb all the initial shots/traps . Then had to survive the horrific treatment within their own camps due to racism. We have been endlessly mistreated
