when something sounds too good to be true, you need to approach it with a healthy dose of skepticism

it’s insane to me how the largest “democracy” in the world you only have two choices for president
chatGPT has some serious reliability issues that make it unusable at times. funny enough i notice it more with pro which is supposed to be the premium experience
tbh a lot of the YC advice people like to shit on is not advice YC gives. for example, YC has never encouraged us to raise more / raise at a higher valuation, instead PG and others have pushed STRONGLY for us to raise less and be conservative on valuations.
there i said it: lower-case is aesthetically unpleasant
how hands-on a VC is has a direct correlation with how much pressure they’re getting from LPs. you can tell a VC isn’t doing well when they go from hands-off to hands-on.
research shows X causes mental illness. i speak from experience

honestly i feel sometimes founder lock in so hard for years that they lose all their real friends. heard this even from public co founders that they feel miserable in their social / family life
crazy how in sf you can still feel poor / unsuccessful while being a young millionaire running a growth stage company.. there’s always a bigger fish and the comparison game never stops. it’s draining
the messy middle is fucking hard.. everyone talks about the exciting beginnings / launch videos / seed rounds and the ends. but the middle part is very very hard and i’m in the thick of it. reading @scottbelsky’s book is really helping me not only tactically but tbh emotionally
managing your emotions as a founder is very hard. it’s truly a roller coaster and gets lonelier the more progress you make
politics and religion are so low ROI to openly comment on. you’re just bound to make people mad without gaining much out of it
interesting how the vibe on X about meta shifted so quickly from “don’t be against zuck / zuck going founder mode” to “i told you it was a bad call”
existential dread is very real. even stronger when you spend years with your identity tied so closely to your company
no amount of money / startup success can truly buy happiness. it can help, but at the end much of it boils down to your mindset and as a founder you get used to focusing on “problems” rather than what you have
