@keatingteam1 @rescue_guide Lots of money goes into making an instructor/getting the right people - I don’t think changing staff is the answer- but make it the norm for training school staff to be operational on a regular basis- now that would be useful

In public sector organisations where staff turnover is low and people stay for up to 30 years, recruiting the right people from day one is critical in creating the right organisational culture. A bad apple can quickly become a 30 year problem. #culture #recruitment

@keatingteam1 @rescue_guide I wonder how much time, enthusiasm, staff & money have been wasted or lost from simply not acknowledging rank doesn’t = an expert in all fields. Promotion isn’t alway the path these individuals wish to put their efforts and energy into. Doesn’t make them any less valuable.

@rescue_guide Happens in every service Mate. Subject matter experts are overlooked because of rank or years service. The service then reinvents the wheel 2 years later. “Want expertise? Employ experts”

We place projects under people’s control based on rank rather than expertise. Not every subject matter expert wants to climb the ladder. Are we giving projects to the wrong people or promoting people based on the wrong criteria?

@rescue_guide In the real world, if there are medical professionals in attendance then take their advice. (They’re generally not worried about c-spine on most occasions) Drill scenario then belt and braces unless instructed otherwise. Like everything in the FS we always train for worst case.
