🌊 A full-stack, type-safe meta-framework (like Next.js or Remix), but with a Go backend.
Built on Vite, with first-class support for React, Preact, and Solid.river.nowJoined August 2023
Meanwhile, the work to build an actually new browser goes on. It’s a slow and unglamorous process, and there will never be a big payday.
Still we’re having so much fun, and we get to build something that many insist can’t be done.
Thanks all for supporting @ladybirdbrowser! 💜
What good LLM tools exist to start building docs for large, mature codebases?
I am entering the “get serious about docs” phase for River. I will write the final prose myself, but I would love some automated way to ensure all surface area is covered, for example.
Any advice?
River v0.55.0 is out now. Enhancements include:
✅ Improved bootstrapper (`npm create river@latest`)
✅ Better performing client loaders (they now run in parallel with server loaders if already registered)
✅ Better type safety / data hook ergonomics
✅ Misc. bug fixes
Try it!
One nice thing about River is that, because the hybrid SSR layer is completely independent of your rendering framework, you can try out Solid for very low switching costs as you build out your app. If you get cold feet, (p)react is just a few code tweaks away, zero backend diffs.

What you really want/need is route-level server side data loading and meta tags, not server side rendering
It didn’t need to be this way. And it still doesn’t:
npm create river@latest
