The 2016 Ruby Heroes have been picked! See you all at @railsconf in a month for the ceremony. It looks like it’s going to be good one. :-)
Deliberations are nearly over, but here are some of the things I’d like for us to work on in the future. Pitch in.
That’s why we’ve tried to offer travel assistance to Heroes for the past few years. It’s expensive & difficult.
Once more, with a feeling: organizer != sponsor. If the process isn’t clear, we’ll make it clearer.
Ruby Heroes is also helped by Ruby Central, and by past year heroes who provide their own votes and feedback.
Yep, but Ruby Heroes is not organized by Code School. It’s organized by @olivierlacan, and sponsored by Code School.

Asked the past year Ruby Heroes if they wanted the full list of nominees to consider beyond the top 12% (5+ noms). One did. Sent it.
@practicingdev I wonder why your concerns ever go unaddressed. Perhaps try not to call things you try to improve horrible in the process.

@practicingdev All right, instead of tearing things apart, I invite you to propose a better process.
@practicingdev Why do you keep assuming a lack of trust? Why are you so cynical?
3) Unpopularity: We worry that the popular vote (by definition) will favor popular people at the expense of deserving less popular people.
2) Significance: many nominees are often nominated by friends or family. It’s more likely that people with 5+ nominations weren’t only.
