Day 1 ATL-SF: A million-miler saved me last night and what can founders learn from this legend! On my way to @TechCrunch #tcdisrupt, I was supposed to camp at Land of Ozarks, MO, but was 3 hours away and it was getting dark. I’d been driving 12 hours so, I made the decision to camp nearby around Carlyle Lake, IL. I went to 3 campgrounds, but all were occupied. I noticed a solo moto-camper cooking and struck a conversation. He also let me share his campsite. As it got darker, we started talking about all his adventures throughout the country. He is 70 years old and recently had a hip replacement surgery with a swollen tendon (happens to 4% of patients), but was going on a solo moto-camping trip from IL to Moab, UT. I realized there are so many common traits between founders and bikers. There’s unspoken bikers creed, just like founders creed. What can we as founders learn from this legend: - Renlentless pursuit of our vision, goals & happiness (hint: it’s not valuation or money) - Handling setbacks and pushing through our problems - Passing the baton to our fellow founders with insights and feedback What do you think? #startups #founders #arbo #unlockfinancialclairty #motorcycles
