Phase 1 is in its final stages of work🎉 Phase 1 activity is on schedule to be completed in 2025. Be on the lookout for more updates as that time nears!
As Phase 3B continues, drivers may have noticed the change in the landscape along I-26. The clearing and grubbing taking place will allow for necessary preconstruction utility activities. It also improves sight lines and increases safety for drivers.

We’ve run the numbers – drivers will experience a lot less traffic congestion when our project is completed.
Developed in the 50s & 60s I-20, I-26, and I-126 do not meet our state’s current traffic demands. The Carolina Crossroads project will provide the Midlands with a corridor that places priority on time and safety. Learn more by visiting our website! 📍 scdotcarolinacrossroads.com
Roadway construction means changes in traffic flow, like lane adjustments and work zones. Do your part in keeping our highways safe by staying focused on the road ahead and staying aware of new traffic patterns.
The Carolina Crossroads project is working to shorten the commute times for the 237,000 who travel the corridor daily. Upon completion, this project could save those drivers 112 hours each year. That adds up to over 26 million commute hours annually.
Drivers will continue to notice big changes to the mapped area as Phase 3B continues and trees and underbrush are removed. About 170 acres will be cleared by spring 2026, improving visibility for drivers.
