Wasn't expected to be a dusty day today, but this evening many dust sources are activated in the Chihuahuan Desert. Lordsburg Playa, Mimbres Delta, Laguna los Moscos, Paleolake Palomas, Janos and Ascension areas, etc. Blowing dust ongoing at El Paso airport for about 3 hours now.

HEAVY dust storm today in El Paso. Sources not previously emitting (Laguna Los Moscos, lowlands between Deming and Lordsburg) pumping out huge dust plumes. Visibility in El Paso near-0, hourly PM2.5 and PM10 levels on TCEQ monitor Chamizal approximately 740 and 7850. Amazing.
Like many glaciers in the Alps, the Great Aletsch Glacier is retreating and thinning. These #Landsat images show change over the past 40 years. The shortening and narrowing of a glacier’s surface area can indicate a net loss of ice mass. go.nasa.gov/4inoZJB
