As part of our second network of the academic year we were pleased to share the outcome of our research project and training materials related to using structured conversations to support family partnerships and to ensure collaboration in setting outcomes for children with SEND
This year the children at academies within @thesteptrust have been opening the doors to a very special advent calendar. Each day when they open the door there is a video of representatives from one of our settings demonstrating a festive @makaton sign for them all to practice

At @thesteptrust we are fortunate to have a member of the staff team who is qualified Makaton Tutor. Today marks the first of a number of Makaton level 1 courses taking place in the coming weeks for many staff across the Trust. This will further support so many of our learners.
The first STEP SEND network meeting took place today with a focus on SEMH and being trauma informed. It is so powerful being able to gather the Inclusion and SEND leads from 20 settings together in one space, we are already looking forward to the next session

Today we visited @STEP_Phoenix to meet with their leadership team and discuss their approach to Inclusion. Their message was clear, Inclusion involves and is about the whole school community as well as the wider community @thesteptrust
We know that working in partnership with local authorities is essential to achieving the very best for pupils with SEND. Today we met with representatives from 4 LAs, all of whom were keen to discuss their offer, challenges faced and future shared opportunities. @thesteptrust
Today we visited our 16th @thesteptrust Academy in two weeks. At @HeathfieldAcad it was evident that SEND and Inclusion are seen as shared responsibilities. @karenharrison33 and I cannot wait to meet the teams at the final four sites next week.
Early assessment and intervention is vital in ensuring children with possible SEND are ready for learning. There is a huge need for SLCN support so we are excited to see the progress some of our younger learners can make with a whole class approach to learning early concepts
