Winter Colours - Sunart Oakwoods, Resipole, #Sunart It may be winter, but there is still colour to be found in Sunart's ancient Atlantic Oakwoods and the contrast between the silver skeletons of oaks and the mauve swathes of bare silver birch trees always seems to catch my eye.

Night Beacon - Ardnamurchan Lighthouse, #Ardnamurchan The light of Ardnamurchan Lighthouse shining bright under a starry night sky. It’s such an impressive structure from any angle. I especially like the ‘Egyptian Style’ architectural detail that runs beneath the balcony.
Island Retreat - Tioram Cottage, Eilean Shona, #Moidart The small white shape of Tioram Cottage on Eilean Shona on the other side of Loch Moidart’s South Channel as it caught catches my eye at daybreak on a February morning.
The Day’s End - Loch Linnhe, Corran Ferry, #Ardgour What better way is there to end the day, but with a ferry trip across the Corran Narrows while watching the sun go down behind snow-capped mountains. Wonderful, absolutely wonderful.
Beneath Giants - The Alphabet Trail, Salen, #Ardnamurchan Capella, the brightest star in the constellation of Auriga (The Charioteer), and the 11th brightest star in the night sky, shining bright above the tall larch trees that line the Alphabet Trail near Salen.
Icy Past II - Sailean nan Cuileag, Salen, #Ardnamurchan The last of the ice from the prolonged cold spell clings on to the fringes of Sailean nan Cuileag as it loses the battle against a rising tide during sunset on a calm January evening.

Sunrise Above the Marsh II - Kentra Bay, #Ardnamurchan A February sunrise from the hill above Gobshealach, looking Kentra Bay to Ben Resipole. I was struck by how the colours of sunrise were being reflected in the mudflats that had been exposed by the low tide.
Last night’s beautiful crescent moon viewed from my garden. Look tonight and it’s right next to Venus. A beautiful sight.
Morning is Breaking - Loch Linnhe, Sallachan, #Ardgour One of the perks of a January morning drive to the Corran Ferry is the sight of a sunrise over loch Linnhe. On this particular cloudy morning the sun managed to break through and light up the sky on the distant horizon.
