The biggest challenge I have is the groupwork. When doing groups virtually, cameras are often off (sometimes for good reason when they can't load the activity along w/ google meet) & are more awkward. And it's exhausting as a teacher popping into the different groups! #ATMNEchat

I find a good lfhc task in remote and/or hybrid settings uses a platform that allows students to interact with the problem in real time. I just used jamboard with an activity I did which was great for the students to show their thinking virtually. #ATMNEchat

Low floor/high ceiling tasks are tasks that let students enter a problem where they are at and challenge them to deepen their thinking. They give all students an opportunity to experience success with math. #ATMNEchat

A7: It takes the emphasis away from things being right or wrong in math. It meets the ss where they are at and lets them know that their ideas are important. #ATMNEchat

A5: This is another reason to give ss time to think/write and discuss with a small group 1st. Ss are more likely to share their thoughts. As a t you can look at what they have written and listento the group conversations and then ask students to share with the class. #ATMNEchat

A3: As a teacher, you should be prepared for different approaches as well as misconceptions that may occur. That helps if the conversation is going in a single direction to be able to branch out with the discussion. #ATMNEchat

Advice needed from #MTBoS #Iteachmath. I have a student who refuses to do any classwork except for @Desmos activities. On Desmos activities, he'll be the first one done. How can I capitalize on this interest and give him more things to do on the computer? 1/2
