Most IEP accommodations, not all, are simply best teaching practices, so why can't we offer more of these to every student so that our classrooms become truly inclusive? For example...copies of study guide at the beginning of the unit. Why wouldn't everyone benefit from that?

"But late work is inconvenient." Yep. Teaching is inconvenient. And it always will be. We work with humans. Humans, even the adult ones, are inconvenient creatures. Accepting that changed the whole game for me--and my kids. Learning with humans is a messy inconvenience.
Mental Health Awareness month means SFHS Health students are learning how to recognize signs and symptoms of common disorders to help themselves and loved ones!

@HoultonPat Depends on how one uses assessments. Assessment Of, For, or As? I use assessments AS learning, the primary purpose being to engage with the kids in the feedback-response process to promote their growth.
This is important! 🙌
The teacher down the hall. The principal at another school. The paras in other rooms. Their successes are your successes. In the end, all victories benefit our one common goal: Kids. Send someone a message to tell them how proud you are of them. Make them smile. Cheer loudly.
The most common IEP accommodation is extended time. What if we allowed additional time to any student? Or didn't time at all? If speed isn't what we're assessing, extended time doesn't change the standard. #LeadInclusion #SBLchat #TG2Chat #EdChat #ATAssessment
