@milan_milanovic I like the way @brendangregg wrote in his book Systems Performance (everything scaled to 1 cpu cycle = 1s). Brings it to a scale that is more human understandable.

You know, GitHub Actions are pretty damn good. For open source stuff you get a bunch of minutes free per month. You can create a pretty good CI pipeline all ‘serverless’. Even integrations to pushing stuff to AWS/Azure/… is available.

It’s not just kubernetes, just aws with all that role,policy, lambda, buckets, az’s, db’s, transit gateways, api gateways meshes and all in mangled half finished company weird terraform files. All to wrap about 50 lines of actual business code. Come back EJB’s all is forgiven.

Plus the language can’t just be ‘a bit better’, it has to have more capability, or be much simpler, or ‘something’. Then gain critical mass in being used in software that solves real problems. The bar is very high.

Hey you know aws lambdas, why would anyone use anything other than node or Python? Now I’m mainly a Java developer, but for nice small lambdas; Java or any compiled language just seems like a PITA. Am I missing something here?

But do you also erase history? Just on random ! And a number and you’re playing Russian roulette with all that info coming back. Or worse that ‘rm -rf *’ being replayed in you current directory. Hope I helped your OCD.
