Are you designing for interruptions? Getting distracted or interrupted when doing a task is common. When designing, consider asking, what happens if the person gets interrupted for a few seconds, minutes, days...?

Are you making the fundamental attribution error about the people you work with or the people you are designing for? Spoiler alert, if you are human you are making this error, at least some of the time. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fundament…
What helps you learn more, making statements or asking questions? Rule of thumb, ask 2 x more questions and listen 2 x more than you talk.
What are two ways you can look at behavior triggers? Active vs Passive. Active triggers, e.g doorbells, are designed explicitly to get your attention and "open the door". Passive triggers, like a chair in a room, are passively, prompting you to "sit down".
What's one difference between ability and motivation? When you make something easier to do, it helps everyone trying to do that action, in a predictable way. When you try to boost motivation, it only affects some people, in a less predictable way.
When looking to change my own behavior, I ask: How can I change the environment (people, places, things) around me to support the behavior?
What is a key research skill? Asking questions that have, seemingly, obvious answers (that nobody else is asking). The answers to those questions can be surprising and insightful.
Adding Value - helping by adding something good, or removing something bad. That something can be, real or imagined, concrete or intangible.
There's, almost, always friction between security and usability. Security creates barriers. Usability removes barriers. #ux
All long term behavior change starts with temporary change. Doing some things, differently than before, at least one time. #ux
There are at least 3 moments to design for: before, during, and after a behavior. More and more I am focusing on, BEFORE.
Do you sit or stand all day for work? Either way you need to move often, being still for too long is a problem. Movement is the answer.
What's one thing good "designers" do? Simplify...becoming a Simplifier will help you understand, communicate and solve problems better. #ux
When thinking about a behavior i want to happen, i ask: what can i build this on (that already exists)? Using scaffolding is a shortcut.
When designing environments for a behavior, you are trying to increase the chance it will happen (instead of another competing behavior)
You often don't know how well you understand something until you have to explain it to others.
Is there such a thing as second hand sitting? The more people sit around you the more likely you are to sit and suffer the bad effects #ux
Want to get more done this year? Instead of setting goals, focus on the behaviors you want to do. Be specific, practice and refine. #newyear
Specifics often change but organizing principles are durable and transferable.
