Dogmatic approaches are a very real problem. Pair programming can work extremely well for SOME people in SOME contexts. If you make it part of your team ethos, at least be up front and deliberate about it: hire accordingly, get mentorship/coaching, and have empathy for your team!

Jenkins + Groovy + makefiles + bash scripts + multi platform docker builds in a tightly regulated environment = great success! Also, don’t use Groovy (or Jenkins, by inference) if you can avoid it.
