President Biden says he stands behind his decision to end the 20 year long war in Afghanistan. Says US mission in Afghanistan was to dismantle Al Qaeda, finish off Osama Bin Laden and not to bring them democracy or peace. !
Squarely blaming his predecessors for ‘wrong calls’, Biden’s strongest criticism reserved for Afghan leadership. They failed to rise to the occasion he said. Not America’s job to fight Afghan civil wars. Afghan nation building must be done by Afghan people themselves, he says.
@sunandavashisht Then stop your human rights industry world wide.
@sunandavashisht And probably this is right as well, how can you expect someone else to fight for yourself. The 300k strong army even if they had stood together would have paused the Taliban March. This seems to be a story of sabotage and design.
@sunandavashisht When US was poking it's nose everywhere around the world (Vietnam, Iraq, Af et el), we blamed them of trying to be the world's supercop. Now if they've decided (& demonstrated) they don't want that role, why are we still blaming them? We all will be better off with this policy.
@sunandavashisht businessinsider.com/watch-afghan-p… If that was their motive - they lost
@sunandavashisht US won't be able to pull out all it's people. The tragedy isn't finished yet.Taliabn and China will add more insult to injury.
@sunandavashisht Agree with President if USA did mean that. Democracy & development are organic, cannot be planted.Afghan people want a kind of governance. It’s a lesson to all who want to export democracy. Defending rights of others opinion is a Herculean task. It grows from within.
@sunandavashisht Nobody expected 300,000 well equipped Afghan soldiers to be be so useless and spineless. You can only lead a horse to water...as they say. Afghan military doesn't have the will to fight a civil war.
