Can any railway people help me with an Electrostar question? I’m working on a sim controller and I need to know (roughly) how long the travel of the Power/Brake Controller is from one end of the slot to the other, and is the ‘off’ detent exactly in the centre of travel. TIA.

My first time travelling on an SWR 444 for a long time today. My first thought is that they have aged better than Southern’s 377s which are a similar age.

Thought I saw a pair of @bessbbe’s dogboxes at York this afternoon, but when I got closer it turned out to be a 155 - it was a surprise to me as I thought they all got converted to 153s!
Well, it’s time to say goodbye to 2023. Not achieved anything special, just another trip round the Sun. Several nice trips and 4 new-to-me heritage lines visited. One failed attempt to join the railway. But the highlight was getting to drive an HST. Bring on 2024!
Enjoyed some heritage diesel action at @eorailway today. But it’s been a very long day starting on the 05:29 from BOG, and I’m still only at HRH on the way home!
Thanks to @Chris_TheDriver, @gabi_runs, @PompeyDriver, @thebestmarklee, @shunterinred and especially @ShunterJack for their help and advice, and the inspiration about joining the railway. I've just submitted my application to GTR, so fingers crossed to hear something soon!

Currently sampling a @SW_Help 159 for the first time in probably 20 years. Very nice comfy seats and bright ambiance, but were they always this loud? My Apple Watch just told me it’s almost 75db in here, and that’s without the engines revving up!
