The hardest part about databases is designing the schema at the start of the project. As the project grows, you keep realizing you need new tables or extra columns in existing ones, which creates inconsistencies and forces you to refactor again and again.
Codeforces problem statements are really cringe. One of them literally has Anya digging through her drawer and finding a beautiful string of zeroes and ones. And it doesn't stop there, she now wants to make it even more beautiful by performing some operations.
Successfully integrated PostgreSQL with my project locally. Databases are actually pretty cool, I used to find them boring before seeing them in action with the backend. Now moving on to configuring it for production.
A week full of setbacks and small wins.
- Didn't perform well in contests.
- Got humbled in a hackathon.
- Started backend development.
- Learned routing, middleware, request handling, and backend deployment.
- Built a small and useless practice project.

Tried nano-banana (Gemini-2.5-flash-image) and man, it's unreal. The speed, accuracy, and consistency are on a whole other level. Google has absolutely nailed it with this.
Just realised how tight my schedule is this week:
- Learning backend development and working on a few projects
- LeetCode Daily Challenge
- Two Codeforces Div. 2 contests (26th & 28th)
- AtCoder Beginner Contest (30th)
- Hackathon (30th-31st)
Really wanted to work on something in space technology, but since ISRO didn't put out any problem statements this time, I guess I'll be skipping Smart India Hackathon.
21 contests without a negative delta… and the streak is over. I don't even know how to describe how I feel right now. Going to bed… not a good feeling.
The difference in level of difficulty between Codeforces and AtCoder contests is insane, Codeforces really humbles you. Did decent on AtCoder, but not up to my expectations on Codeforces. There are two more Div. 2 contests next week, hoping to do better in those.
Built a small Shopping Cart app. Nothing fancy or useful, but I learned React Router and testing with Vitest along the way. Good learning experience. You can laugh at it here: the-shopping-cart.pages.dev
Almost done with frontend and recently started learning databases and backend. Databases seem really interesting so far. Thinking of reading "A Relational Model of Data for Large Shared Data Banks" by E. F. Codd.
I really hate making practical files and assignments. They drain way too much time and energy. From next time, I'll just try to finish them in the lab itself.
Help others when you can, but never at the cost of your own growth. People will guilt trip you when you don't give them what they want, but you don't owe them anything. It's okay to be selfish.
Dhruv Rathee's audience isn't exactly tech-savvy, so most of them won't even understand what tokens mean and will likely buy AI Fiesta's subscription without a second thought. In my opinion, the business will do well in the short run but fail in the long run.
