Superintendent Herle presented on the 4-day work week to the SJSD board via video. When questioned, he addressed the fact that several subgroups of students were not showing progress. He maintained that this was completely about staff retention. He clarified "NO" cost savings.

This article is biased. It fails to delve into deeper data. Looking at DESE data specific to schools, students in certain subgroups such as low-income, non-white, and those with IEPs and behavior plans progress was greater in 2023-24.
